Camden Arts Centre’s Live Art Performance series, Six of One, is a series of events and new commissions examining historical and formal connections between performance and sculpture, including work by Graham Hudson, Erwin Wurm, William Cobbing and Charles Simonds, the programme has been organised to accompany the exhibition Strange Events Permit Themselves the Luxury of Occurring.

About One Day Sculpture

Initiated by Massey University’s Litmus Research Initiative and Claire Doherty, and realised in partnership with art institutions throughout New Zealand, One Day Sculpture is a cumulative series of place-responsive public artworks by national and international artists that will begin in spring 2008 and run until spring 2009. The series will involve the creation of 20 new artworks across five New Zealand cities over one year. Each artwork will be sited in the public domain and will exist for no more than a 24-hour period (with each artwork being realised on a different day). The works will reflect a diversity of artistic approaches from sculpture and installation in situ for 24 hours, to performance and itinerant interventions across a city at moments throughout one day.

One Day Sculpture is the first commissioning programme of its kind to be staged across New Zealand, and its specific durational nature also marks it out from any other international art project. Artists will include international artists Roman Ondak, Javier Tellez and Thomas Hirschhorn and New Zealand-based artists Billy Apple and Maddie Leach. A full list of commissioned artists, curators, commissioning partners and sponsors will be announced at the One Day Sculpture press launch on Friday 7 March in Wellington, New Zealand. The microsite www.onedaysculpture.org.nz will also go live in March 2008. For further press information contact Tracey Monastra at  tracey.monastra@xtra.co.nz.
