Stills Conversation: Photomontage / Collage WEDNESDAY 15 OCTOBER 7PM FREE
A brand new full colour publication released last month by Black Dog publishing is the first authoritative survey of the history of collage from its origins through to the latest work being produced by artists today. Collage: Assembling Contemporary Art features the work of Martha Rosler alongside Edinburgh-based artists Jonathan Owen and Catherine Street.

This informal evening event will explore collage from the perspectives of Liz Shannon, a specialist in American Photography, and the artists Catherine Street and Jonathan Owen.

Stills Reading Group: The Poetics of Space MONDAY 20 October 7PM FREE
For October's Reading Group Clare MacCumhaill from the Philosophy Department at The University of Edinburgh selects two passages from Gaston Bachelard's The Poetics of Space:
-Chapter 1: The house, from cellar to garret (from the start to section v)
-Chapter 3: Drawers, Chests and Wardrobes (from start to section vii)

Stills Talk: Alistair Rider 'Martha Rosler: Reading for What?' WEDNESDAY 22 OCTOBER 7PM FREE
Having explored Martha Rosler's eclectic collection of books which covers everything from Marx and Feminism to photography and Sci-fi, this event is an opportunity for you to find out more about the artist's work.
Join Alistair Rider as he presents a special talk on Martha Rosler's practice paying particular attention to books, activism, the New Left, public intellectuals and the artist's feminism.

Alistair Rider is a Teaching Fellow in Modern and Contemporary Art at the University of St Andrews. He is writing a book on the poetry and sculpture of Carl Andre for Phaidon.
