Picture This

Picture This

Hauntingly striking works by a group of young people who took a leap of faith back in April this year.

"You find your talent that is hidden in you" : Shona

Six young people from North Glasgow supported by Youth Worker, Chrissie Miles and collaborative artist Lindsay Perth,  grasped the unique opportunity to explore life in a completely different way and to interpret what they saw using photography within contemporary art. A series of intensive workshops researching the meaning in imagery, interpretations of other artists' work along with collaborative discussions developed awareness and skills to explore and interpret their own thoughts and feelings, their perception of themselves, others and the world around them.

Picture This is a partnership project jointly funded by: Glasgow Life Communities, North Area Services Youth Team, Glasgow City Council, North Area Committee and Street Level Photoworks.

Mandy Edwards - A Celebration

A Celebration

Drawing on the social landscape of the East End of Glasgow.

This project portrays 50 shopkeepers, workers and owners of local businesses that are trading in that area and it aims to capture something of the relationships that exist between different communities that contribute to the shaping of what our city is.

For most, it is business as usual, but with the huge development of the Commonwealth Games 2014, it is forecast that this area of the city will be transformed into a hub of economic growth with likely effects on the local people and businesses. 'A Celebration' portrays the diversity of the East End, and as a consequence, a community spirit that thrives amidst the uncertainties of change.
