Exhibition in the Embassy

At the Embassy we will continue to provide the necessary working environment for an artist to develop a new project in the city which will culminate in an exhibition at the gallery. The artist in residence is an essential and primary part of our program which permits us to extend our efforts in fostering the development of new work and offering professional opportunities to artists. The residency is geared to offering artists the time, space and financial assistance to work on their own independent project. 2005 gave Tobias Sternberg the opportunity to create an exciting and innovative intervention in the Embassy, 'The Gallery is Temporarily Open due to Unnecessary Refurbishment'.

During the last year of running The Embassy has attracted over 200 members and volunteers. Annual membership to The Embassy costs £5 or can be paid for by invigilating shifts. Members are a vital support system for the gallery, providing volunteers, advice and a general network of artistic people. All members are invited to submit proposals and images of their work to be considered by curators for future exhibitions and events. In 2007 we would like to continue to offer a professional opportunity to our members and to present their work in the best possible way.
