DRAWING RESTRAINT 9

Fri 9 Nov

Sat 10 Nov
11.30pm
Sun 11 Nov
1.30pmDouble Bill with Matthew Barney.
A creative collaboration of two of the most protean, dynamic forces in fine art and music, Matthew Barney and Björk. Barney's films deploy the full range of cinematic resources in the service of a hermetic vision, rich with densely layered networks of meaning drawn from mythology, history, sport, music and biology. Set on a whaling ship in Japan, the core idea examines the relationship between self-imposed resistance and creativity. Barney is one of the most celebrated artists of his generation. His latest artworks are being exhibited at the Serpentine Gallery in London, coinciding with the film release. The Cameo are pleased to be screening DRAWING RESTRAINT 9 from Friday 9 November. Also screening as a double bill with MATTHEW BARNEY: NO RESTRAINT, a documentary about the making of DRAWING RESTRAINT 9.Book tickets by calling the Box office on 0871 704 2052.Picturehouse Cinemas

Sandy Meets 2

Sandy Meets

You are cordially invited to Sandy Meets 2, Book Launch.
Collective Gallery, Cockburn Street, Friday 26th October 7 - 9pm

Sandy Meets 2: the long awaited sequel to Sandy Meets!  If you missed out on the first one, this is essential reading material. After great demand SM2 is finally ready to be unleashed on the public at large.

Sandy Meets explores the myth and cult of the celebrity and turns it on its head by adding Scottish colloquialisms into the mix. Sandy's role as a close friend or neighbour reduces the notion of celebrity to the everyday; whilst adding an imaginative spin to each scenario.

'Meets' range from superman getting told off by his mother for not doing the dishes, to a centrefold depicting Steve McQueen in his new job working in the chippy van. Others include telling Snoop Dogg the car boot sale is back on and Jessica Fletcher's new job as a gangster rapper (murder she rapped) and a couple of old favourites reappear from the first book.
